8 Small Joys to Curate Into Your Life

05.11.20

Quarantine has been interesting on my perspective of being home. When I was working 8-5 corporate jobs, there was nowhere else in the world I would rather be. I would always say to myself, “god I just wish I worked from home” or “I wish I could just be home all the time”. Even now that I do work from home and stay at home with Cannon, I’d even find myself dreading going to an event or something because I would just rather be at home.

But it’s funny… when the time finally comes, and that time is now, and you literally have to be at home and nowhere else, with the exception of the grocery store or pharmacy, you suddenly realize that your heart only yearned for home so much because you were away from it for hours on end each day. And now, home is the last place people want to be because they’re yearning for the ambience of a bustling society or a small talk conversation in a restaurant waiting area. For the human race, the grass is always greener I guess haha. I am guilty of this.

But while we’re home, we have to get creative in satisfying our hearts and minds because a brunch with friends is just out of the question. Lately, I’ve been really trying to put an emphasis on curating a beautiful morning routine filled with littles joys that put me in such a GREAT mood. This post isn’t going to be about my morning routine; I want to save that for another time to really get down into the details, but these are a few things I reach for throughout the day, starting with my morning, to set the tone, bring me joy and make me feel comfort. Sephora Sale: What’s In My Cart?

04.21.20

Alright guys. The bi-annual Sephora Sale is HERE!! And I am in need of some serious skincare products and makeup. I am a VIB member so the sale for me begins tomorrow. However, if you’re Rouge or Insider, here are the full dates:

        • Rouge: 20% off (4/17 – 5/1)
        • VIB: 15% off (4/21 – 4/29)
        • Insider: 10% off (4/23 – 4/27)

I’ve got a pretty solid skincare routine nailed down but I am always wanting to try new things to see what works best with my skin. Plus, it’s just fun to do!

In regards to makeup, I’m not totally loving some of the things I am using at the moment so I want to test out a new foundation, highlighter and eye shadows. And then I ran out of my eyeliner (Kat Von D Tattoo Line is my JAM), blush and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect lip color!

I don’t have a money tree in the backyard so unfortunately I am not purchasing everything listed in this blog post. Because we are in quarantine, I am going to focus on skincare, however, if I were to get makeup, these are the products I would absolutely buy. I’ll be getting these on my next Sephora haul!

Here is what’s in my shopping cart for the Sephora sale! Read More

Homemade Watermelon Whiteclaw

04.11.20

I don’t know what it is about quarantine that is making me gravitate to Whiteclaws, but I have had like at least one a day hahaha. Don’t judge me. They are hypnotizing me. So much that I decided to create my own recipe.

Before I start getting all the comments saying “Whiteclaw isn’t made from vodka”, I know that, okay? I realize they are made with some beer alcohol alternative that isn’t hard alcohol and isn’t beer, but obviously I can’t physically create and ferment all that in my home. Therefore, this recipe is made from vodka as the alcohol base, and oddly enough, it tastes VERY similar to a watermelon Whiteclaw. Adding a champagne floater on top, too, really helps achieve that alcohol alternative flavor and helps with the extra carbonation.

***KEEP IN MIND, YOU NEED TO INFUSE THE VODKA FOR AT LEAST FIVE DAYS. Other than that, this recipe takes 5 minutes!

Why watermelon? Watermelon has surpassed black cherry as my new favorite flavor so that’s why I was inspired to create this recipe with that flavor. Read More

My Trader Joe’s Staples

04.10.20

We all have our favorites from the best grocery store ever, Trader Joe’s. I thought I would put together my list of go-to products that I always pick up when I make a trip to TJ’s.

(If you’ve tried some of these, be sure to let me know on my IGTV TJs Haul videos!) If there are some I’m missing that are your staples, also be sure to let me know on my Instagram. I am always looking for the newest TJs staples to add to my pantry and let’s be honest, sometimes it’s difficult to take your sweet time while shopping there because it’s typically very crowded.

The only category missing from this list is of course, my favorite wines from Trader Joe’s. Let’s save that for another blog post, preferably one that is schedule to publish around a #BachelorMonday 🙂

Enjoy!!

An Easter Basket for Toddlers

04.07.20

Easter will certainly be different this year with everyone being confined to their homes. But looking at the positive, you can do everything in your home that might have done elsewhere for Easter: family brunch, egg hunts and gift baskets!

Thankfully, delivery is still a go so you can essentially order the kids’ entire Easter baskets online! Below are some of my ideas specifically for Cannon, however, they are overall fairly gender neutral so they could work for either! I’ll be building his basket in one of these two pictured below (I haven’t decided just yet) and I got him a custom “tag” from my friend Courtney who owns POPPYjack Shop, a calligraphy shop with so many fun products. She also has online classes to learn how to do calligraphy!

We can’t go anywhere, but home is where our hearts are! So enjoy your family and your time at home on this holiday and make this the best Easter ever!
