Maternity photos are a must! I knew I always wanted to document this time in my life and I’m so glad I did. I really wanted simple photos and simple outfits so that nothing took away from my baby bump. I already had a location in mind for this, Blok Studio‘s Van Buren location. In downtown Phoenix, the building is super industrial with an old, white brick wall and windows that let in just the perfect amount of light.

As far as photographer, Lauren Schumacher (The Lauren Style) was a no-brainer! She specializes in branding / portraits / studio photography and I had worked with her before on a couple of different occasions so I knew I would be comfortable. My favorite part about working with her is that she’s so interactive and helpful with posing and she brings in different props that change up the photos so they don’t all look the same! (She whipped out a fan and made me feel like a freakin’ supermodel. Not to mention my hair looked bomb in the pics.)

I booked our session for one hour, which was more than enough time to get what I wanted. It was only $60 for Blok Studio’s Van Buren location. Well worth it. When I’m doing a shoot where the time has a hard stop, I always think about the flow of my outfits and how I can get more looks out of just a few pieces and, therefore, minimize the outfit change time.

This was the flow of my outfit changes:

  1. Free people dress + hair down

  2. Calvin Klein bralette and underwear + jeans + hair down

  3. Calvin Klein underwear + black crop top + hair down

  4. White bodysuit + hair down

  5. White bodysuit + sweater + hair down

  6. White bodysuit + sweater + hair in low pony

  7. White bodysuit + jean jacket + hair in top knot

I was about 33 weeks pregnant for this shoot and I really felt like it was the perfect time for me to get these photos done since I wasn’t too swollen but still had a big bump! I am beyond happy with how these turned out. It’s such a beautiful time in a woman’s life and it goes by so fast. I will cherish these forever!
